When can the family reunification take place?
Recognized refugees can immediately start to reunite their family. The application should be submitted by the family members within 3 months of the positive decision. Only for applications submitted within 3 months do neither income, accommodation nor health insurance have to be proven.
If the application cannot be submitted personally within 3 months, it can also be submitted in writing to the Embassy. For more details please contact the Red Cross.
Beneficiaries of subsidiary protection must wait 2 years from the first granting of subsidiary protection before their family can submit an application.
While a person is still in the asylum procedure and has not received protection status yet, it is not possible to bring the family to Austria.
